Learning about liberty

This week during Social Studies we learned about America's different symbols of freedom... Such as the Statue of Liberty!
 We made Lady Liberty torches...

 And did an experiment with pennies, showing why the Statue has turned green....
               
                   
We have a new building set in our classroom...

 So much fun!

 We found out that along with inventing over 300 uses for peanuts, George Washington Carver also came up with over 100 uses for the sweet potato!
 We invented "Sweet Potato Playdough"!





 The Firsties made boats after learning about water safety during Health class.

 Lastly, for this week, in Science we learned about the wind and made some "wind paintings".



A field trip + 100th Day fun!

Wow! What a week! Monday was the day of our field trip to the bowling alley!
 We were able to see behind the scenes!
 SO NEAT!!




 Then it was time to bowl!







 Kinders are learning 2 vowel words!


 Abraham Lincoln was our focus in Social Studies this week. So...
 Log cabins...



 And Lincoln Logs...
 Wednesday was the Firsties 100th day of School!
 We did a LOT of 100 things...like finding 100 Hershey's kisses...
 Painting 100 fingers on a t-shirt...

 Putting 100 buttons on the cabinet...
 Using mats to count by 5's to 100...
 And stacking 100 blue and 100 red cups...


 Making clay porcupines with 100 quills...


 Lastly, this week during Science we learned about snow and what it's made from (air, water & dust). Then we made snow-cones!
