Settling In...

Kinders started off the week by practicing their names...capital letter first:)

They used our salt boxes to write their names.
During Social Studies we talked about the different kinds of homes...
Then they used shapes to create their own homes!

 Playdough vowels!
Of course that turned into playdough snails;)
Also in Social Studies this week, we learned about ministers....
Then made cards to send to some of our own ministers...

Firsties practiced their sight words while playing "Go Fish"...

My favorite: Self Read Time! So exciting to see them reading!

First Grade Health taught us about the food plate...
If you want to quiz your kiddo: Half of their plates should be fruits and veggies.
In Science this week we learned we are all created different by God's design...
So we created our own "Pop Art" to show our differences...

First Week of Kindergarten!

Presenting our Kindergarten Class.....

As you can see, they warmed up very fast!

We read "The Kissing Hand" on our first day and made handprints...
They learned to use "Just a dot, not a lot" of glue:)
Our second day, they practiced cutting and writing their names...

In Social Studies we talked about communities and families.
We made picture frames to put family pictures in...

Firsties practiced counting to 100 during Math and worked on "place value".

Mrs. Leyse loaned us some Wonderbooks she found at the library for our rest time...

A "Classroom Scavenger Hunt" helped the Kinders become familiar with our room...

And in Kindergarten Math we worked to make patterns...
 After reading this book...
 We made our own scribbles!

Lastly, we made pictures for our friends and delivered them to their buckets...

What good "bucket fillers"! And what a good week!
