Our First Field Trip of the Year!

Our first field trip was a great success! I was so thankful that we did not need to cancel because of the fog delay! I'll let the pictures tell the story of our day:)

The rest of our week was filled as well...in Math the Kinders were practicing numbers while going "fishing"!

First Grade is working their reading stamina!
In Health they made pillows to rest on after reading about how our bodies need plenty of rest to stay healthy!

The Kindergartners are doing really well with their vowels! Here they are slithering like snakes to find the correct vowel sounds in the words I gave them!

Lastly, in Science we talked about our unique fingerprints and did some fingerprint stamping...sorry for the colorful fingers!

Our Short Week

Labor Day turned our week into a short one, especially for Kindergarten! Having only 2 or 4 days, we really packed them full of learning!
The Firsties experimented with different types of paper airplanes for Science...

The Kinders teamed up and used salt boxes to practice writing their vowels...

Both grades learned about firefighters during our Social Studies time...

We did some color mixing and created flames with paint! Of course we had firetrucks on the pictures to help put out the fires;)

First Grade Health had us talking about exercise...
We skipped the treadmill and opted instead to play games with balloons!

We had some special guests for Show and Tell!

Lastly, this week the First Graders have started a time of "Self Reading". We will start off slowly...5 minutes and work our reading stamina up to 15 minutes!

(the students are using whisper phones...this allows them to read out loud (whisper) to themselves and not disrupt the rest of the class:)
