Our First Classroom Guest!

On Monday, in Social Studies, we talked about postal workers and did a name exchange to make letters for each other. Then the students delivered the letters to each other's "mailboxes"....

The Kinders went on a vowel hunt in our classroom and then we made words with them...

Every Tuesday, Elaina L. comes into our room as a cadet teacher. She has been reading to the students during our rest time:)
On Tuesday, in Social Studies we learned about dentists in preparation of our guest, Audrey R.!

In Health the Firsties learned about the importance of our skin and skin-care...wash hands, etc. I decided to turn this into a science lesson as well....
 Bars of Ivory Soap-
 In the Microwave-

 So cool!
Also, the cleanest mess we've ever made!

Audrey and her sister came to teach the students about dentists and tooth care!

She had all of the kids brush their teeth and set a timer for 2 minutes...so funny, but also a good lesson on how 2 minutes should feel!

Last of all, in Science this week we focused, again, on our hair. We learned that our hair has roots, kind of like a plant! Then we did a project with crazy hair...

Little teachers and learners!

This week in class we had some guest "teachers"! My Kinders were able to become the teacher and quiz their peers on vowel sounds! (I might be out of a job soon;)

 Picture Day!!!

The Kindergartners learned a new game in Math...
"Left-Right-Center"! The purpose, of course, is to practice our left and our right.
In First Grade Health the students learned about posture...hence the books on heads!

After walking regularly with books, we decided to set up an obstacle course to try while keeping our good posture:)

Inchworm Race! We raced inchworms across our chalkboard to get to the giant apple (please pardon the poor artwork)...the worms moved when the students correctly said their letter sounds:)
Science taught us that God created us all with different types of hair. We made our own plate heads, complete with yarn hair!
